Washington, D.C. – October 1, 2024

The Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) is proud to announce the election of Stephen C. Donehoo as the new President of its Board of Trustees.

Founded in 1962, PADF has been a catalyst for change across the Americas for over six decades, empowering vulnerable communities and advancing sustainable development. Throughout its history, the foundation has implemented innovative programs that have transformed the lives of millions, strengthening communities, promoting human rights, and fostering inclusive economic growth.  The organization has consistently championed initiatives that build resilience, reduce inequality, and create lasting impact.

Stephen Donehoo brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With a distinguished career that includes positions at the White House, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the U.S. Southern Command, and 20+ years as a partner at McLarty Associates, working on business and policy issues in Latin America, his expertise in strategic planning, crisis management, and government relations will further enhance PADF’s mission.  His deep understanding of the region and strong leadership skills will be a boon to the organization.

“Stephen’s proven leadership, passion for Latin America, vast network, and strategic vision make him the perfect choice to lead PADF’s Board into the future,” said Katie Taylor, PADF Executive Director. “He will be an invaluable ambassador for PADF and for our mission as we seek to empower vulnerable communities and foster sustainable development across the hemisphere.”

This leadership transition comes at an exciting time for PADF. In 2023 alone, the foundation implemented 76 programs in 33 countries, reaching more than 20.5 million people. Through initiatives that focus on advancing rights and justice, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and supporting vulnerable populations, PADF continues to lead transformative change across Latin America and the Caribbean. Mr. Donehoo’s strategic expertise will be essential in scaling this impact even further.

“I am humbled to serve as President of the PADF Board of Trustees.  PADF’s work is vital, and I have witnessed firsthand the life-changing impact it has on communities. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team, partners, and stakeholders to continue driving meaningful change. Together, we can build a hemisphere of opportunity for all,” said Mr. Donehoo.

PADF also expresses its deepest gratitude and appreciation to Alexandra Aguirre, the outgoing President of the Board, for her exceptional leadership and dedication. Under her leadership, PADF made significant strides in expanding its programs and reaching millions of individuals across the region. Her vision and commitment have left a lasting legacy.
