Together for Haiti Initiative Aims to Raise $48 Million for Haiti Food Relief
New York City (May 20, 2008) — The Together for Haiti initiative officially launched at a press conference with the presence of musician and Yéle Haiti founder Wyclef Jean, World Food Programme (WFP) Vice President for Development Anne Staunton, PADF Deputy Director Amy Coughenour, economist Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, representatives of the Haitian Diaspora, and additional community and celebrity supporters including music legend Paul Simon. The partnership is a response to the food crisis in Haiti. Its goal is to implement a four-part operation to deliver targeted food distribution, implement immediate employment programs, support family/community-based agro-business, and boost agricultural production. Over the first six months of implementation there is a fundraising goal of $48 million, including $30 million from WFP.

Multifunctional Childcare Center Inaugurated Under ADAM
Puerto Parra, Colombia (April 8, 2008) — In Puerto Parra, state of Santander, a number of recently-inaugurated social service projects will benefit the local population.  One of the projects, funded by USAID through their Areas for Municipal-Level Alternative Development program (ADAM), is “Small World”—a Multifunctional Childcare Center that will benefit 106 displaced and vulnerable families in the area.  Present at the inauguration ceremony were the governor of Santander, Horacio Serpa Uribe and the mayor of Puerto Parra, Carlos Ballesteros Gómez, among others.
PADF Publication Launch Event Spotlights Expert Panel on Disaster Management: Disaster Management Alliance Project Touts Private Sector Role

Washington, D.C. (February 6, 2008) - The Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) marked the publication of its Disaster Management Alliance Project booklet “Profiles of Success: Involving the Private Sector in Disaster Management” with a breakfast and panel discussion last Wednesday, January 30th at its headquarters in the Organization of American States (OAS) building.

Honduran First Lady Thanks PADF for In-Kind Contributions
Tegucigalpa, Honduras (December 20, 2007) – "Thank you for the solidarity" was the headline of an advertisement in Honduran daily La Tribuna, where the country’s First Lady, Xiomara Castro de Zelaya, expressed her gratitude for PADF's solidarity. In 2007, PADF donated more than $212,000 of medical supplies and tools to support the country's public health system. The contributions, part of PADF's In-Kind Donation program, were distributed at the Leonardo Martínez and Mario Catarino Rivas Hospitals in San Pedro Sula, the Puerto Cortés Area Hospital, and the El Progreso Hospital. Donated supplies and tools included: oxygen tanks, patient monitors, electric hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, exam tables, medical supplements and additional equipment that is essential to the hospitals’ operations.
